How do I get to an article?

Answer

From MCPHS Smart Search:

  1. Double-Check Your Access: Is there a gray bar at the top of your search results page that says "Welcome Guest. MCPHS member? Log in for full-access. Bar disappears once approved."? Click that link and log in with your MCPHS username and password.

  2. Refine Your Results: The great thing about Smart Search is you get all sorts of information from a variety of sources! If you already know a bit about the topic, you may just need academic/scholarly/peer-reviewed article(s). Click on Peer Reviewed to tell Smart Search to just show those results.

  3. Get the Article: We have articles from a wide variety of journals, databases and publishers (which are all set up slightly differently). You may get several different kinds of links. Check the Access Options menu to access them. (The menu will be at the bottom of the each result in the results list and towards the top of the page for a specific result.) Sometimes it takes a couple extra clicks for you to get to the article. Check for one of these links:

    1. LibKey Instant PDF
    2. Linked Full Text
    3. PDF Full Text
    4. Get it from [publisher]
    5. Get Full Text (MCPHS)

With Get Full Text (MCPHS)

Get Full Text (MCPHS) connects you to all of the places we can get an article.

  • If MCPHS has the article, the system will connect you to the article or to the database or journal's site.
    • If you get a blank screen with the message, "If the page does not display, then open the page in a new window," click "open the page in a new window."
    • If that link does not work, click "Your Access Options." Try the links in the "Get it immediately through the MCPHS Library's Collections" section. (Skip the first link in that section. Our system already used it.)
    • Try the link(s) in the "Try searching for a Free / Open Access version" section.
    • Use the link in the "Fill out the form and the library will try to get it for you" section.
  • If MCPHS does not have the article, the system will list other ways you can try to get it.
    • Try the link(s) in the "Try searching for a Free / Open Access version" section.
    • Use the link in the "Fill out the form and the Library will try to get it for you" section
  • If something is not working, use the "Report a problem" link in the "Get Help" section. We will try to fix it!

Use the Journals Tab

Do you already have the citation and just need the full article? Use the Journals tab on the library's homepage to search for it.
